Obituary of Olga Amelia Seppanen Houghton Olga A. Seppanen, 91, a former resident of Houghton passed away Wednesday afternoon December 2, 2015, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past year. She was born on June 8, 1924, in Pilgrim Location, a daughter of the late Rhyno and Ida (Saari) Hongisto. As a child, she attended the Houghton School. On February 23, 1944, she was united in marriage to Siegert Seppanen. The couple moved to Farmington, where they raised four children. In 1980 the couple moved in retirement back to the Copper Country. On November 2, 1982, Siegert preceded her in death. Mrs. Seppanen was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton. She enjoyed fishing with her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, her son Jay, her parents and 6 brothers, her sister and son-in-law David Laskowski Surviving are: Her children: Jerry (Bettie) Seppanen of Palm Coast, FL John (Mary) Seppanen of Fairview, MI Jane Laskowski of Livonia, MI Her daughter-in-law: Joanne Seppanen of Atlantic Mine 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren Her sister-in-aw: Julia Hongisto a resident patient at the Houghton County Medical Facility Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral Services for Olga will be held 11:00 am Saturday December 5, 2015, at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton. Spring burial will be in the forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton. Friends may call on Saturday December 5, 2015, from 10 am until time of services at the church.
