Obituary of Otto Rothenberger Snake River Hill Otto Rothenberger, 78, a former resident of Snake River Hill, Chassell, and presently of Hancock passed away Sunday morning October 12, 2008, at the home of his sister in Hancock where he had been residing for the past 4 years. He was born on August 20, 1930, in Snake River Hill, a son of the late Gottfried and Martha (Hoffman) Rothenberger. As a child, he attended the Chassell School. Otto had worked for most of his life as a farmer on the family strawberry farm and then as a machinist for the DesRochers Machine Shop in Baraga. Mr. Rothenberger was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Hancock. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing, and raising animals. Preceding him in death were his parents and 14 brothers and sisters, and a niece Susan Walitalo. Surviving are: His brother: Gottfried Rothenberger of Snake River Hill His sister: Gertrude (August) Marinelli of Hancock Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Otto will be held at 11 am Wednesday October 15, 2008, at S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Hancock with Rev. David Weber to officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton. Friends may call on Tuesday October 14, 2008, from 4 to 7pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock and on Wednesday from 10 am until time of services at the church.
