Obituary of P. Bates CHASSELL P. Jane Bates, 68, of Chassell, passed away on Friday morning, November 2, 2012, at her home following a lengthy illness. Jane was born on February 9, 1944 in Calumet a daughter to Percy and Anna (St. Amour) Roberts. She attended the Hancock Schools. She worked for 20 years as head cook for McNair Hall at MTU, retiring in 2001. Jane was previously married to Arthur C. Bates. Ms. Bates enjoyed going to the Casino, her flower garden, grandchildren and great grandchildren also crocheting. Jane was brought up in the Catholic Faith. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers, Albert & Stanley Roberts, sisters, Genevieve Copley, Lorraine Masters and Rosemarie Peterson. Surviving are 2 sons, Timothy D. Bates of Niceville, FL; Kenneth L. Bates of Chassell; 1 daughter, Tiffany J. (Justin) Dieter of Chassell; 1 brother, Fred (Janet) Roberts of Aura; 1 sister, Ethel Brunet of L'Anse; her former husband Arthur C. Bates of Sun City, AZ; 4 grandsons, Eric, Stephen, Ryan and Dawson; 2 great granddaughters, Melissa & Elizabeth. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Chassell with Fr. Al Mott to officiate.
