Dollar Bay
Patricia A. Laux, 82, a resident of Dollar Bay, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Canal View – Houghton County following a lengthy illness.
She was born on November 23, 1943, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Leo and Celia (Collins) Morency. She was raised in Dollar Bay and was a graduate of the Dollar Bay High School with the class of 1962.
Patricia began working in the Chemistry Department at Michigan Tech University, where she met John “Jack” Laux. They were united in marriage on August 27, 1966, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Dollar Bay. Jack passed away on July 7, 2012.
Patricia held a variety of small jobs throughout her life. She enjoyed crocheting hand towels and going to the casino. Her true passion was taking care of her kids, grandkids, and her dogs.
She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she was active in the Altar Society.
Besides her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert (JoAnne) Morency and Ronald (Mary Lou) Morency, and a sister, Lucille (Albert) Paavola.
She is survived by her children:
Daniel (Kimberly) Laux of Chassell
Robert (Cheri) Laux of Chassell
Sandra (Jon) Houle of Dollar Bay
Her grandchildren: Ashley, Michelle (Quentin) Stachowiak, Nicholas, Jewel, Lane, Ruby, Brett (Courtney) Houle, Elisha (Braden Peterson), and Travis Houle.
Great-grandchildren: Preston, Haven, and Foster Stachowiak.
Numerous other family members and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia will be held at 11 am, Thursday, July 23, 2026, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Dollar Bay with Fr. Corey Litzner to celebrate. Burial will take place in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.
Friends may call on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 10 am until the time of Mass at the church.
