Obituary of Paul Anthony Abb Hurontown Paul A. Abb, 81 a resident of Hurontown, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where he had been a resident for the past three months. He was born on September 11, 1937, in Houghton, MI, a son of the late Joseph and Marie (Carpenter) Abb. Paul was raised in Houghton and was a graduate of the Houghton High School. Mr. Abb was a veteran having served with the United States Army. Following the service, he worked for Erickson Lumber as a logger in Skanee, he drove a car carrier for Lakeland Motors before and owned and operated Paul Abb Standard and Wrecker in Houghton before beginning a career as a heavy equipment operator working for the City of Houghton as a first garbage truck drive and snow plow driver. He then worked for Portage Township at the landfill and retired from Houghton County Transfer Station. Paul had served first on the City of Houghton and then on Hurontown Fire Departments for over 20 years. He also was the constable and Liquor Inspector for Portage Township for many years. Paul enjoyed being outdoors hunting, collecting guns, and cooking for family and friends, his door was always open to all. Preceding him in death were his parents and his brothers; Leo, Bob and Joe. Surviving are: His children: Jody & Patty (His longtime caregiver) Abb of Atlantic Mine Linette & Dave Elmblad of Lake Linden His grandchildren: Joseph, Mitchell, Madison and Matthew His special niece and nephew: Tracy (John) Tryan of Escanaba Michael (Stacy) Abb of Escanaba His favorite companion Fluffy A private prayer service for Paul will be held at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Fr.
