Obituary of Paul W. Binoniemi Pointe Mills Paul W. Binoniemi, 88, a former resident of Pointe Mills passed away Saturday evening February 11, 2006, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, where he had been a resident patient since this past August. He was born on October 5, 1917, in Pointe Mills a son of the late Louis and Briita (Hollapaa) Binoniemi. As a child he attended the Pointe Mills School and was a life long resident of Pointe Mills. Paul was a veteran of World War II having served with the United States Army. On February 2, 1946, he was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Maatta and she preceded him in death on February 16, 1998. Mr. Binoniemi had worked for the Atlas Powder Company, Isle Royal Park Service, and the Quincy Mining Company until illness forced his early retirement. He was a member of Bay Post #6028 V.F.W. of Dollar Bay and Court North Star #17 Foresters of America. Also preceding Paul in death was a Grandson Michael Dishnow, 2 Brothers: Matt Binoniemi, Henry Binoniemi, and 2 Sisters: Lillian Lahikainen and Eleanore Kempainen. Surviving: 3 Sons: Daniel (Peggy) Binoniemi of Cape Coral, FL Robert (Lenore) Binoniemi of Sturgis, MI Larry (Judee) Binoniemi of East Grosse Pointe Shores, MI 1 Daughter: Ruth Ellen (Steve) Clark of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands 5 Grandchildren: Amber, Jennifer, Benjamin, Elizabeth, and Mary 4 Great Grandchildren: Alyssa, Gabe, Michael, and Taylor Funeral services for Paul will be held 11a.m., Thursday February 16, 2006, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with the Rev. Allen Goodrich to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday February 15, 2006, from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
