Obituary of Paulette Marie Mahr Houghton Paulette M. Mahr, 74, a resident of Houghton passed away Sunday October 15, 2017 at the UP-Health Portage Hospital in Hancock following a lengthy illness. She was born on December 24, 1942, in Laurium, daughter of the late Louis L. and Estelle (Delangis) Perreault. She was raised in Hubbell, attended the Sacred Heart School for 11 years and was a graduate of the Lake Linden High School. In 1961, Paulette was united in marriage to Fred Mahr; the couple resided in Lake Linden and raised three children. Paulette and Fred parted in 1980 after 18 years together. Paulette was a devoted mother to her children. She retired in 2006 after 25 years in Food Service and Facilities Management at Michigan Technological University. She also held a number of other jobs over the years including time at Hamer-Quandt, Kaleva Café, Central Foods, and private housecleaning contracts. Paulette was a devout Christian. She was an active member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Hancock for over 20 years. In her youth, she played the organ at St. Celia Catholic Church in Hubbell. Her greatest pleasures in life were being active in her church, working in her flower garden, decorating her home for the holidays (featured in the Weekend Edition of The Daily Mining Gazette in 2002), getting good deals shopping, and spending time with her extended family. Paulette was a hard-working, unselfish and caring person of faith who was always concerned with the welfare of others and eager to help those around her. She will be missed by family, friends and others in the community. Surviving are: Her children: John (Ramona) Mahr of Ooltewah, TN Craig (Lara) Mahr of Marcelles, MI Tracey (John) King of Middlesex, NC Her grandchildren: Braxton Mahr & Sander King. Her sister & brother: Geraldine Perreault of Cedar Falls, IA Gerald Perreault of Amhurst, NY, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, especially a special cousin AndreBonen. Services for Paulette will be heldat 11:00 AMFriday, October 20, 2017, at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Hancock with Pastor T.J. Stuaffer officiating. Friends may call onFriday, October 20, 2017 from10:00 AMuntil time of services at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Hancock. A reception will follow the service.
