Obituary of Phyllis Tapani LAKE MARY, Fla. - Phyllis K. Tapani, 78, a former resident of Chassell and Hancock, most recently of Lake Mary, Fla., passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012, at her home, following a lengthy illness.She was born November 25, 1933, in Hatley, Wis., the daughter of the late Jacob and Augusta Marks.She graduated from Ontonagon High School.On May 29, 1954, she was united in marriage to Arthur Tapani. The couple made their home on the North Entry Road in Chassell for 48 years, where they raised four children.Phyllis enjoyed her carpet loom, canning and freezing fruits and vegetables, reading, working puzzles and crocheting.Phyllis was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Houghton.She retired from the School of Technology at MTU.Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; her brothers and sisters.Surviving are her children: Carolyn (Michael) Heinrich of Lake Mary, Fla., Jim (Joyce) Tapani of Minneapolis, Minn., Don Tapani of Dallas, Texas, and Joan Tapani of Hancock; her grandchildren, Braden (Sarah) Tapani, Kristopher Tapani, Whitney Tapani, Nathan Heinrich, Staci Heinrich, Quincy Lorenzetti, Paul Lorenzetti and Maria Lorenzetti; one great-grandchild, Bristol Tapani; her siblings, , Leona T'Niemi, and Elaine Lampinen; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.A memorial service for Phyllis will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 23, 2012, at S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Houghton. Friends may call on Saturday June 23, 2012, from 1 pm until time of services at the S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Houghton. Burial will be in the Chassell Cemetery.In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests memorials be given to S.S.
