Obituary of Rachel Marcheski HoughtonRachel V. Marcheski, 96, a former resident of Heritage Manor, Houghton passed away Wednesday morning September 26, 2012, at Houghton County Medical Care Facility where she had been a resident patient for the past two years. She was born on February 28, 1916, in Allouez, MI, a daughter of the late Jack and Emilla (Sarya) Kristo. As a child, Rachel attended the Allouez School. On April 11, 1934, she was united in marriage to Tulio Marcheski. The couple first resided in Ewen, MI, where they owned and operated a clothing store, they then resided in Detroit. In retirement, they returned to the Copper Country to make their home in Tamarack City. On July 27, 1991, Tulio preceded Rachel in death after 57 years of marriage. Rachel has also resided in Hancock and then Heritage Manor in Houghton before becoming a resident patient at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock. Mrs. Marcheski was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hancock. In Rachel's later years she enjoyed trips to the casino with the seniors each week.Preceding her in death were her husband, Tulio, her grandson Garrett, her parents, her sisters; Gladis, Joyce, Lila and her brothers; Wilbur, Homer, and Clarence.Surviving are: Her son: Gary (Linda) Marcheski of Kingsley, MI Her grandchildren: Pamela Marcheski of Seattle, WAKevin (Alice) Taylor of Monroevia, CAHer great grandchildren: Casey, Ashley, Cameron, & KadenSeveral nieces, nephews, and cousins.Funeral services for Rachel will be held 1 pm Saturday September 29, 2012, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. Amy Terhune to officiate.
