Rachel Wenberg (Hale)

Obituary of Rachel Gertrude Wenberg Houghton Rachel G. Wenberg, 100, a former resident of Houghton passed away Wednesday evening November 29, 2017, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident for the past four years. Rachel was born in Chassell, MI, on March 9, 1917, to George and Mary (Cook) Hale. She was raised in Chassell, graduated from Chassell High School and also attended St. Josephs School of Nursing. She married Carlos Wenberg and was a long time resident of Houghton. Rachel was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Houghton and active in The Fireside Club and the Bothner Circle. She enjoyed her family, her home, her sewing and flower gardens. She made dolls and stuffed toys for church sales and friends. She especially made dolls for the Salvation Army Toys. She shared her flowers with several local churches. Surviving are: Her sons: Kenyon (Jackie) Wenberg of North Carolina Ben (Marcy) Wenberg of Missouri Her grandchildren: Karen Wenberg, Kenyon Wenberg, Ben Wenberg and James Wenberg and Jenny Issa. Her great grandchildren: Beej Wenberg, Jonah Wenberg, Chloe Murry, Gavin Murray, Taylor Issa and Ellie Wenberg As requested, no service will take place.
