Obituary of Ray Sampson Houghton Ray G. Sampson Jr., 83 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 06, 2007 while in residence at Omega House in Houghton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Sylvia (Ruohonen) Sampson. He is survived by his two daughters, Susan Sampson of Tucson Arizona and Sherry Caserta of Kansas City, Missouri; and six grandchildren: Irving Riutta, Adrienne Caserta, Alex Bard, Grant, Olivia and Chase Riutta. He was also great-grandfather to Jessica, Kelly and Megan Riutta and Riley and Dominic Smith. Ray would most aptly be described as a character. No one was a stranger to him and he had a zest for life like no other. Whether living in Alaska, scuba diving or racing cars he grabbed life and lived it on his terms. It is the legacy that he has left his children, it is their generous inheritance. Services celebrating Ray's life will be held this summer at the Oscar Cemetery, date to be announced later.
