Obituary of Reino Kinnunen Tapiola Reino E. Kinnunen, 80, a former Tapiola resident, passed away Wednesday August 31, 2005, at the Waveny Care Center in New Canaan, Conn. where he had been a resident patient since June 1, 2004. He was born on Nov. 12, 1924, in Tapiola, a son of the late Pekka and Hilda Kinnunen. He later resided in San Francisco, CA, Atlanta, GA., Darien, Conn. before moving to Kent, Conn., where he lived until becoming a patient at Waveny Care Center, June 1, 2004. Mr. Kinnuen had attended and graduated from John Doelle High School in Tapiola. He later attended and received a BA Degree from Michigan Technological University. He also was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Army. He retired from Turner Construction Co. as a professional engineer. He was united in marriage to the former Tuovi Wiitala in 1949. Mr. Kinnunen was a member of the First Congregational Church of Kent, Conn. Surviving are: his wife, Tuovi 2 Sons: Peter (Patricia) Kinnunen of Darien, Conn. Carl E. (Shelly) Kinnunen of Dayton, Ohio 2 Daughters: Paula (Todd) Tulick of Boston, Mass. Liisa (Alan) Elsner of Croton-on-Hudson, New York 7 grandchildren 1 Brother: Russell (Barbara) Kinnunen of Tapiola numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 A.M. at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell with Rev. Ted Koehl to officiate. Burial will be in the Elo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Veteran Rites will be conducted by the Copper Country Veterans Association at the cemetery.
