Obituary of Richard Gleason Carver Houghton Richard G."Dick" Carver, 70, a resident of the Bluffs Senior Living Community and a former Calumet Water Works Rd. resident succumbed to inoperable lung cancer, Wednesday evening at his home, due to COPD from years of smoking. Dick was born on Groundhog's Day (Feb. 2) 1938, in Climax, MI, to Chester and Gertrude (Stock) Carver. Dick graduated high school early and attended the University of Michigan and graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1972 as a Civil Engineer. He worked for the State of Michigan until his retirement. Mr. Carver was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents & his wife Jeanne (Wildt) Carver. Surviving are: His son: Mark (Gina Turner) Carver of Houghton His granddaughters: Justina & Kaitlin His brother: Gerford of Durango, CO His sister: Vernabelle of Durango, CO Several nieces & nephews As requested, a private family service will be held at another date. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials be given to Keweenaw Home Nursing & Hospice in memory of Richard Carver. Dick's family would like to thank his friends, the staff at the Bluffs & most especially the entire staff at Keweenaw Home Nursing & Hospice for their support & care of both Dick & the family.
