Obituary of Richard Imm Chassell Dr. Richard E. Imm, 67, a resident of Chassell, passed away suddenly from injuries received in an automobile accident near Bena, MN on August 1, 2010. He was born on October 14, 1942, in Los Angeles, Ca, a son of the late Edwin G. and Eulala E. Palmblade Imm. He was raised in Nebraska and graduated from Lincoln High School, University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and University of Nebraska Omaha Medical School in 1969. After a year of internship and another year of residency, Dr. Imm joined a group family practice in Coquille, OR in 1971 for four years, then was head Emergency Room physician in Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay/North Bend, OR until 1980, when he joined the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon. One assignment brought him and his family to Marquette and K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base. Dr. Imm retired from the Air Force in 2000 as a full Colonel. In December, 2000 he moved back to Marquette and since 2003 has made his home in Chassell when he joined the Medical Arts Family Practice in Houghton, retiring in January, 2008. Dr. Imm was a active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock, Chassell Post #6165 V.F.W. of Chassell, Copper Country Humane Society, and was director of the Western U.P. Healthcare Access Coalition. He enjoyed being active in the outdoors, hiking, biking, & skiing with Nancy and their three dogs. He was an active member of the National Ski Patrol and a retired member of the American Medical Association. He served briefly on Gloria Dei's church council, and led many Sunday adult forums on various subjects. He was a member of several other professional and political organizations. Surviving are: his wife of 39 years: Nancy Kjostad Imm of Chassell his children: son Jeremy Imm of Fairfield, CA daughter Jerrin Imm Mordew of Grand Forks, ND his beloved grandson: Cayden Ames his brother: Craig Imm of Portland, OR his brothers-in-law: Jerry Kjostad of Grand Rapids, MN Roger (Kathy) Paul of Burnsville, MN his sister-in-law: Debbie Kjostad (Bob) Brown of San Diego, CA his wife's step mother: Shirley Kjostad of San Diego, CA his cousin and friend: Dr. David (Jeanne) Carlson of Marquette several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and colleagues. A memorial service for Dr. Imm will be held 11:00 am Thursday August 12, 2010, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock with Licensed Lay Minister Clay Hilman officiating. Friends may call on Thursday August 12, 2010, from 10 am until time of services at the church. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests that memorials be given to 1. the Western U.P. Healthcare Access Coalition in Hancock, 2. Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp in Crystal Falls, or 3. WNMU-FM Public Radio 90 in Marquette.
