Obituary of Risto S. Vuorinen Dollar Bay Risto S. Vuorinen, 66, a resident of Fir Ave., Dollar Bay, passed away Saturday September 24, 2005, at his home following a year long battle with cancer. He was born on January 4, 1939, in Helsinki, Finland a son of the late Aatto S. and Lempi (Viemero) Vuorinen. As a child Risto moved to the Copper Country and graduated from the Houghton High School with the class of 1958. Since 1964 he has resided in Dollar Bay. On June 11, 1960 he was united in marriage to the former Phebe Ylitalo. Risto had worked for Commercial Systems and Northern Stationers in Houghton as a Office Equipment Technician for over 40 years until illness forced his retirement. Mr. Vuorinen was a veteran having served with the United States Army. He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Dollar Bay, E.A.A. (Experiment Aircraft Association)#1270 Young Eagles and the C.C.R.A.A. were he went by the call sign N8BYR. Preceding him in death were his parents, and 2 brothers: Jorma and Ronald Surviving are: His Wife Phebe at home 1 Daughter: Pearl (Robert) Yeager of Houston, TX 3 Grandchildren: Charles, Christopher, and Katie 2 Brothers: Reijo (Arlene) Vuorinen of Houghton Urpo (Darlene) Vuorinen of Soumi, MI Numerous Brother-in-laws, Sister-in-laws, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many friends. Funeral services for Risto will be held on Friday September 30, 2005, at 11 A.M. in the First Lutheran Church of Dollar Bay with Rev. Katrina Gallagher to officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton. Friends may call at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock on Thursday from 6-8 P.M. and on Friday from 10 A.M. until time of services at the church.
