Hancock
Robert "Bob" Gerald Bastion, 79, a resident of Hancock, passed away on Tuesday,
January 28, 2025 while vacationing in Florida with some of his family.
He was born on April 12, 1945, in Laurium Michigan, the son of the late William and
Claudia (Gunnari) Bastion. Bob was raised in Kearsarge, Michigan and was a graduate
of Calumet High School class of 1964.
On September 8, 1966, he married his late wife Helen Ingrid Erickson. He then joined
the US Army and served in Vietnam. After a few years in lower Michigan, they settled in
Raymbaultown, Michigan, where they raised their family of 11 children.
Bob was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church and most dear to his heart
was his Christian faith. He is remembered by all as a joyful, kind, warm-hearted man
who befriended people from all walks of life. He welcomed anyone into his home. He
was a precious example of his living faith as he raised and taught his children.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Helen, his parents, sister Geraldine, 2 half-brothers Herb and
Clyde Bastion, brother-in-law Rusty Adams.
Surviving are his children: Yvonne (Dane) Hersey, Keith (Paula) Bastion, Renee (Mark)
Hendrickson, Eric (Teresa) Bastion, Neil (Diane) Bastion, Julene Bastion, Sharon
(Jesse) McClellan, Rebecca (Anthony) Lampinen, Karla (Gary) Davis, Wendy (Josh)
Hendrickson and Craig (Liana) Bastion. Brothers Ken (Carole)Simula, Ronny (Peggy)
Bastion and Tommy Bastion, sister Rita Adams, 48 grandchildren, numerous great-
grandchildren, nieces, nephews and Christian friends across the country.
Funeral services for Robert will be held 1pm Friday February 7, 2025, at the Old
Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock with Ronald Jouppe and Douglas Wuebben to
officiate. A Spring Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery of Ahmeek.
Friends may call on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 11am to 1pm at the Old Apostolic
Lutheran Church of Hancock.
