He was born October 1, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to Robert and Irene (Spaczynski) Bohnsack. He grew up in the suburb of Dearborn, graduating from Dearborn High School in 1962. The following fall he enrolled at Michigan Tech. September 17, 1966, Bob was united in marriage to Christine Fryxell, known to many as Tina, at Trinity Church Episcopal in Houghton. After Bob graduated from Tech in 1967, they began their great adventure as Bob served nearly 9 years in the U. S. Air Force. In 1976, they left the Air Force and moved to Madison, Wisconsin where Bob held positions at the U. S. Forest Products Laboratory and later Nicolet Instrument Corporation. They returned to Houghton in 1984 when Bob became the Academic Advisor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Michigan Tech. By mid-2004, Tina and Bob were retired to their little home on Keweenaw Bay which they loved and enjoyed so much. Bob was a member of the L'Anse United Methodist Church and a six year veteran of Cardiac Rehabilitation at Portage Hospital. These two groups of extraordinary people lifted him up in the dark days since Tina's untimely and unexpected death in March 2015.
