Obituary of Robert Duncan D.D.S
Chassell Dr. Robert W. Duncan D.D. S., 91, a retired area Dentist passed away Thursday evening, November 8, 2012, at the Marquette General Hospital where he had been a patient since Tuesday, after being involved in an automobile accident. He was born on July 6, 1921, in Casper, WY, a son of the late Robert and Rhea (Layne) Duncan, Sr. Mr. Duncan was a graduate of Northwestern High School in Detroit, A1bion College and University of Detroit Dental School. Following college "Doc" enlisted with the United States Navy serving with the Medical Corps. Following his time in the Navy he returned to the Detroit area to pursue a practice in dentistry, he later moved to the Upper Peninsula and practiced dentistry in White Pine, Baraga and his last office was at the Copper County Mall. Doc resided in Dollar Bay until his retirement when he moved to make his home in Chassell. On June 23, 1946, he was united in marriage to the former Betty Rockey and she preceded him in death on May 17, 2003. Dr. Duncan was a very active member of Rotary International locally in Houghton and also while residing in the Detroit area. Preceding him in death were his wife, his granddaughter Christine Duncan, and his parents. Surviving are his children: Robert (Lee Ann) Duncan of Knoxville, TN Kathleen Duncan of Chassell Cheryl (Steve) Zajdel of Novi, MI His grandchildren: Eric Zajdel, Kyle Zajdel, Ryan Zajdel, Mark Duncan and Matthew Duncan 2 great grandchildren As requested no service will be held.
