Obituary of Robert Roy Raisanen Chassell Robert R. Raisanen, 78, a resident of the Broemer Rd., Chassell, passed away Monday November 5, 2007, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on November 21, 1928, in Laurium, MI, a son of the late August and Willa (Sibilsky) Raisanen. As a child, he resided in Mohawk and attended the Mohawk school and graduated from the Calumet High School with the class of 1947. Bob then attended and graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1951 and again in 1952. Mr. Raisanen was a veteran having served with the United States Army during the Korean War. On October 21, 1972, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Grohman. Mr. Raisanen had worked for Upper Peninsula Power Company for over 38 years retiring in 1994 as head of the Government and Environmental Quality Department. In 1995 he purchased Wally's Tire in L'Anse which he operated until 2000 when he retired. Robert was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Hancock. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #6507 of Chassell and had served on the Board of Control for the Houghton County Road Commission for 12 years. Bob enjoyed the outdoors hunting & fishing. He also was an avid collector of antiques and guns. Bob loved his family and thought the world of his grandchildren. Funeral services for Robert will be held 11 a.m. Friday November 9, 2007, at S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Hancock with Rev. David Weber to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery of Calumet. Friends may call on Thursday November 8, 2007, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock and on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Chassell V.F.W. Post #6507 will hold military rites at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock has been assisting the family with the arrangements.
