Obituary of Roger Lorenz Painesdale Roger J. Lorenz, 66, a resident of Painesdale passed away Friday morning June 22, 2012, at the Omega House in Houghton following a lengthy illness. He was born on September 16, 1945 in Hancock a son of the late William and Glennis (Collette) Lorenz. He was raised in Tri-Mountain and graduated from the Jeffers High School with the class of 1963. Mr. Lorenz was a veteran having served with the United States Army. Roger worked for the Corp of Engineers before his time with the Army. He then resided in Milwaukee, WI, Pittsburg, PA, and Florida before returning to the Copper Country to work for White Pine Copper Mine. For over 25 years Roger sailed the great lakes. He was member of the Seafarers International Union working for the American Steamship Company on various Ore carriers. On November 26, 1988, he was united in marriage to the former Cynthia Dugdale. Mr. Lorenz was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of South Range. He enjoyed spending time at the family cottage at Agate Beach. Roger loved to hunt and fish with his family/friends and most of all his son James. Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Gary and his sister Patricia Vonada. Surviving are: His wife Cynthia Lorenz of Painesdale His sons: Andrew (Shantel) Lorenz of Hancock James Lorenz of Painesdale His grandsons: Evan and Ryan Lorenz His brothers: William (Ruth) Lorenz of Rohnert, CA Dennis (Rita) Lorenz of Twin Lakes, MI Randy (Carol) Lorenz of Kingsford, MI Edward (Mary Jane) Lorenz of Marquette, MI His aunt: Kathryn Komula of Chassell Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins A Mass of Christian Burial for Roger will be held 11 am Tuesday June 26, 2012, at Holy Family Catholic Church of South Range with Fr. John Martignon to celebrate. Burial will be in the Chassell Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday June 26, 2012, from 10 am until time of services at Holy Family Catholic Church of South Range.
