Obituary of Rose Krapu Hancock/ SkandiaRose E. Krapu, 78, a former resident of Hancock and Skandia passed away early Friday morning November 2, 2012, at the Portage Hospital where she had been a patient for the past 2 days.She was born on November 3, 1933, in Dodgeville, a daughter of the late Henry and Ida (Salmi) Mattson. Rose was raised in the Dodgeville area and attended the Isle Royale Schools.On April 10, 1954, she was united in marriage to Calvin Krapu. The couple had resided in Hancock until moving to live with their daughter in Skandia in 2009. Calvin preceded Rose in death on July 15, 2009.Mrs. Krapu had worked as a waitress in the area for the Kaleva Café in Hancock and Lindell's Coffee Shop in Lake Linden, before becoming a home health aide in the area.Rose loved to spend time with her family and watching her grandchildren, she also enjoyed spending time gardening, crocheting, and caring for animals. Most recently her beloved dog Moochie.Preceding her in death were her husband Calvin, her granddaughter Angela, her brothers, Robert and Ronald and her sister Delores Nelson.Surviving are: Her children: Glenn (Donna) Krapu of Hancock Karen (Al Starrine) Penar of SkandiaHer grandchildren: Jill Allen, Brad Krapu, Andrew Krapu, Jeni (Manuel) Mendez-Marcotte, Clint (Shawna Thompson)Marcotte, Kristie (Doug) Erikkala & Jennie (Jim) Peterson.10 great grandchildrenHer sisters: Helen Sirvio of Dollar BayBarbara Forsman of PaavolaSharon (Roger) Harry of HurontownShirley (Walter) Harry of TapiolaHer brother: Wilbert (Patty Ann) Mattson of Superior LocationRoy (Carolyn) Mattson of Superior LocationNumerous nieces, nephews, and cousinsA memorial service for Rose will be held 1 pm Wednesday November 7, 2012, at the home of Glenn and Donna Krapu.
