Roy D. Koski, 88, a resident of Lena, WI, and former Atlantic Mine, MI, resident passed away Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Rennes East Health & Rehab Center in Peshtigo, WI, where he had been a resident patient for the past 4 years.
He was born on August 22, 1936, in Atlantic Mine, MI, a son of the late Toivo and Selda (Rajala) Koski. Roy was raised in Atlantic Mine and attended the Atlantic Mine School.
Mr. Koski was always a hardworking man, and it started at an early age first by picking potatoes as a boy and then fixing cars as a teenager before becoming of age to enlist and become a proud veteran having served with the United States Army as a heavy equipment operator in Germany.
Following the service, Mr. Koski returned to the Copper Country and worked at a gas station. He was united in marriage to the former Nancy Louise Knapp and then moved to Wisconsin first making his home in Oshkosh while working in a wood furniture factory. He then moved to Milwaukee and worked in a factory at A.O. Smith and then moved to Racine and Kenosha while working as a painter for American Motors. He then owned and operated Pure Station his own Gas station. Roy and Nancy had three children before parting ways. He then purchased his first semi-truck and became an independent owner/operator Trucker for nearly 20 years also as a member of the Teamsters. In 1978, he purchased Jack's Auto Salvage in Little Suamico and then in 1986 moved the business to Lena and renamed it to Iron Yard Truck & Auto Salvage. While owning the salvage yard it was like Roy was able to play in his own sandbox each day working on cars and operating heavy equipment for over 40 years.
Mr. Koski enjoyed working on equipment and attending auctions looking for the next good deal and visiting with his family and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers Howard and Marvin; his sister Deloris Stopler; his good friend & cousin Wesley Manninen.

His children: Clyde "Darry" (Tamia) Koski, Lisa Denomie (Koski), & Roy "Donny" Koski II.
His grandchildren: Darryl Koski, Joanie Koski, Nan (Rich) Moberg, Tyler (Jay) Denomie, Jessica (Mino) Koski & Ryan Koski and 9 great-grandchildren: Kyliegh, Reina, Jose, Natalia, Shelby, Haily, Adrianna, Savanna & Skyler.
His sisters and brother: Katherine Moilanen, Frances Koski, Barbara Van Newkirk, & Dorothy (Stan) Dvorak; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service for Roy will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service - Mt. View Chapel of South Range with Rev. Kelly Ylitalo to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery of South Range.
Family and friends may begin visiting on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 11:00 am until the time of services at the funeral home.
