Obituary of Rueben Huhta Chassell Rueben E. Huhta, 77, a resident of Chassell, passed away Thursday afternoon November 1, 2012, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 2, 1935, in Keweenaw Bay, a son of the late Kuno and Martha (Hendrickson) Huhta. Rueben was a graduate of the Chassell High School. Mr. Huhta had been employed as a mechanic for the White Pine Copper Mines. On May 3, 1955 he was united in marriage to the former Joanne Destrampe and she preceded him in death in 1988. In 1992 he was united in marriage to the former Shirley Vinson. Rueben was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church of Chassell where he was a usher and Eucharistic Minister. He also was active in the Chassell community being a former assistant Chief and the Chassell Fire Department and a former Township Supervisor. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, golfing, hunting, fishing, and camping . Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife Joanne and his brother Ted. Surviving are: His wife; Shirley Huhta of Chassell His children: Benita (Tom) Maksimchuk of Calumet Daniel (Julianne) Huhta of Ishpeming Penny Jo (Rex) Allen of Glendale, Arizona Tamara Rezanka of Linden, MI His step-children: Gary (Michiyo) Justice of Japan Keith (Debbie Lyttinen) Justice of Hancock Tina (Jerry) DeForge of Negaunee His sister: Bertha Cuff of Marquette His brothers: Wesley (Lora Lee) Huhta of Chassell Clifford (Shirley) Huhta of Twin Lakes 12 grandchildren and his great grandchildren Several nieces, nephews, and cousins A mass of Christian burial for Rueben will be held 11 am Monday November 5, 2012, at St. Anne's Catholic Church of Chassell with Fr. Al Mott to officiate. Burial will be in the Chassell Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday November 5, 2012, from 10 am until time of services at the church.
