Obituary of Rueben Kovala Hancock Rueben L. Kovala, 87, a resident of Hancock passed away Friday evening June 1, 2012, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility where he had been a resident patient for the past seven months.He was born on August 16, 1924, in Baltic, MI, a son of the late Emil and Mary (Jampsa) Kovala. As a child, Rueben attended the Painesdale School.Mr. Kovala was a veteran having served with the United States Army with the Pacific Theater during World War II.Rueben had then worked for Chrysler Corporation as a repairman retiring in 1979 after 31 years.Mr. Kovala was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock and Alfred Erickson Post #186 American Legion of Hancock and B.O.E. #382 Eagles of Hancock. He also was a retired member of U.A.W. Local #51. He enjoyed bowling and following the Detroit Lions and Detroit Red Wings.Preceding him in death were his parents and 2 sisters and a brother.Surviving are: His nieces: Carole (David) Medvitz of Doylestown, OH Mary (Paul) Mergentime of Madison Heights, MIHis nephew: Michael (Lynn) Keto of North Canton, OHHis sister-in-law: Clarice Kovala of Madison Heights, MIA special friend: Ida Montagne a resident patient at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility.Funeral services for Rueben will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday June 5, 2012 at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. D.J. Rasner to officiate. Burial will be in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery.Friends may call on Tuesday June 5, 2012 from 11 am until time of services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock.
