Obituary of Russell Charles DeForge South RangeRussell C. DeForge, 73, a long time resident of South Range, passed away Thursday January 14, 2016, at the UP Health - Portage, with his family by his side, following his four year battle with cancer. He was born on September 18, 1942, in Trimountain, son of the late Albert and Rose (Katalin) DeForge. He attended Jeffers High School.Russ is a veteran of the United States Army. He then worked for Hocking Construction for several years, before retiring from the Houghton County Road Commission in 2008.On July 31, 1965 he was united in marriage to Kathryn Datto. They have resided in South Range, where they raised their three children. This past July, they celebrated 50 years of Marriage.Russ was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in South Range. He recently served on the Village Council in South Range until is health no longer allowed him to do so.He is survived by:His wife: Kathy DeForge of South RangeHis children: Lee DeForge of Atlantic MineKim (Paul) Harris of BalticRyan (Carrie) DeForge of HoughtonHis grandchildren were his pride and joy: Jesse, Brittney, Anthony, Taylor, MaKenna, Paige and JaceHis sister: Rose LindgrenHis brother: Dan (Kay) DeForge of Atlantic MineNumerous nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Russ was known for working in his garage and was a master at getting things running again. He also loved riding his motorcycle on Sundays with his beloved wife Kathy and his dear friends. A Mass of Christian Burial for Russ will be held 11 am Monday January 18, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church in South Range with Fr. Corbin Eddy to officiate. Friends may call Monday from 10 am until time of service at the church.Burial will be in the Mt.
