Ruth Landis

Obituary of Ruth Caroline Landis Hancock Ruth C. (George) Landis, 81, a resident of Hancock passed away Sunday evening August 2, 2015, at her home following a lengthy illness. Ruth was born on November 30, 1933, in Mohawk, MI, a daughter of the late Matt and Lempi (Kemppainen) Kuivanen. As a child, She was raised in Calumet and Tapiola where she was a graduate of the John A. Doelle School with the class of 1951. She also was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Superior. Locally Ruth had worked for Michigan Bell for a short time. On September 4, 1954, she was united in marriage to George R. Landis. The couple has resided in in various parts of the Midwest and eastern parts of the United States. Such as Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, Virginia, New York, Michigan, Maine. In retirement they had made their home in Hayward, WI, Rice Lake, WI and for the past year Hancock. Ruth was a member of the Methodist Church; she enjoyed weaving and cooking in her spare time. Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother Stan Kuivanen. Surviving are: Her husband: George R. Landis of Hancock Her son: Glenn (Barbara ) Landis of Green Bay, WI one nieces and one nephew As requested a graveside service for Ruth will be held at a later date in the Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery of Madison, WI.
