Sandra Backon (Rintala)

Obituary of Sandra Marie Backon Houghton Sandra (Bob) Backon, 67, a resident of Houghton passed away unexpectedly at home Wednesday evening June 8, 2016. She was born on September 3, 1948, in Hancock a daughter of the late Earl and Aune (Koski) Rintala. Sandra was a graduate of the Hancock High School with the class of 1966 and attended Suomi College. On August 16, 1969, she was united in marriage to Robert Backon. The couple has resided in Houghton since that time where they raised their two children. Mrs. Backon had worked in the Office for the Houghton Elementary School, as an Administrative Assistant at Michigan Technological University, and as an Administrative Assistant for Portage Health Marquette Clinic. She retired in 2012. Sandra was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, helping coordinate the Altar Guild. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and family, especially relishing her time with her only grandchild. She enjoyed social activities, such as going out with the breakfast crew and lunching with the ladies. DJ Rasner to officiate. Lunch will follow at the church.
