Obituary of Sandra Mae Salchert Sandra Mae Salchert (Simons), age 70 passed away suddenly near her home in Calumet, MI on Sunday, November 5th, 2017. She was a 1966 graduate of Escanaba High School. After graduating, Sandy served in the US Army as a physical therapy assistant. After serving Sandy Married and had three children; Matthew N. Salchert (Sharon), Catina M. Johnson (Russell) and Mark O. Salchert. She is survived by all three and her eight grandchildren. Sandy dedicated most of her time to the Disabled American Veterans, DAV and served as the Disabled American Veterans, DAV Commander at both the Calumet and Escanaba Posts. She also served a term as the DAV State Representative. Sandy was an avid crafter and worked as a home health and senior companion for many years.
