Atlantic Mine

Sheila Ann Coffey, 67, a resident of Atlantic Mine, MI,  passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023, at UP Health System-Portage surrounded by family.

She was born July 11, 1956 in Hancock, MI, a daughter of the late Carl and Hilma (Harju) Holappa. Sheila was raised in Atlantic Mine and was a graduate of Jeffers High School with the class of 1974.  That same year she was united in marriage to Daniel Coffey and in 15 years of marriage they raised two children. 

Sheila spent several years working in the hospitality field. She loved spending time outdoors working in her gardens, along with crocheting, sewing, and cooking.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Carl Jr, and her sister Karen Springsteen.

Surviving are::

her Children: Jason (Melissa) Coffey of South Range, MI,

               Lisa (Cody Suits) of Toronto, Ontario

Her Grandchildren: Molly Coffey, Troy Coffey, Aidan Reath, and Jayce Reath

her brother: Ken Holappa of Indiana and friend Jim Malila of Atlantic Mine.

As well as several nieces and nephews,

As requested, no service will take place for Sheila and burial will be in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery in the spring/summer of 2024.
