Obituary of Shirley Lessun Houghton Shirley Lessun, 91, formerly of the Douglass House Apartments in Houghton passed away Thursday evening , November 1, 2012, at Portage Pointe, Franklin House in Hancock, where she had been a resident for the past 1 ½ years. Shirley was born on May 21, 1921, in West Damascus, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Clarence and Violet (Bryant) Schweighofer. She attended the local schools and graduated from Damascus High School in 1939. In 1944, she married John Lessun and together they operated a dairy farm in West Damascus, PA, for many years. In the mid-70's, they moved from the farm to Honesdale, PA. John preceded her in death on March 18, 1985. Shirley and John spent many winter months in St. Petersburg, FL, so after his death, she spent winters there, and summers in Pennsylvania or Michigan with family. In 2008 she moved, permanently, to Houghton to be near her daughter and family. Beside her parents and husband, John, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister, Roberta Meyer, and granddaughter, Sasha Lampinen. She is survived by 2 daughters: Linda (Charles) Dennis of Honesdale, PA, and Marsha (Tony) Lampinen of Houghton, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, one sister, Lois Blum Wilson of Beech Lake, PA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
