Shirley Pennanen

Obituary of Shirley Esther Pennanen Dollar Bay Shirley E. (Kenneth) Pennanen, 71, a resident of Cedar Ave., Dollar bay, passed away Thursday January 17, 2008, at home following a long illness. She was born on April 19, 1936, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Charles and Saimi (Kovala) Wanhala. As a child she attended and graduated from the J.A. Doelle School with the class of 1954. Shirley has resided in Los Angles, CA, Garden City, MI, Westland, MI, and for the past 15 years has made her home in Dollar Bay. On December 17, 1955 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Pennanen. Mrs. Pennanen was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell and the Finnish Center Association of Farmington, MI. Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, William and Edwin. Surviving are: Her husband: Kenneth of Dollar Bay Her children: Lisa Yeates of Hillsbrough, NJ Michael (Lisa) Pennanen of Brownstown Township, MI Tina (Joey) Beauchamp of Livonia, MI Her grandchildren: Kimberly, Kayla, Tyler, Melanie, Jacob, and Kyle Her brothers & sisters: Charles (Nola) Wanhala of Crescent City, CA Donald Wanhala of Tapiola Lorraine (Brian) Bixley of Alston David (Kathy) Wanhala of Elo Numerous nieces, nephews, and Cousins As requested by the deceased a private memorial service will be held at a later date at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. Ted Koehl to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Elo cemetery. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials be given to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell.
