Obituary of Signe Salminen CalumetSigne M. Salminen, 73, a resident of Calumet, passed away Thursday morning November 13, 2008, at the Omega House in Hancock where she had been a resident of the past 4 days.She was born on September 2, 1935, in Painesville, a daughter of the late Toivo and Vienna (Niemi) Alho. Signe was a graduate of the school Ewen Trout Creek High School with the class of 1953.Signe has resided in L'anse, Mohawk and for the past 4 years has made her home in Calumet.For the past 20 years Mrs. Salminen has spent her time with Joseph Peltier.Mrs. Salminen loved to cross stitch and enjoyed watching sporting events.Surviving are: Her daughters: Sandra (Charles) Burr of Blanchard, MI Lisa (James Stahl) Salminen of Mt. Pleasant, MI Her grandchildren:Gregg Burr, Erik Burr, Meghan Burr, and Shaun Paul CollinA memorial service for Signe will be held 1 pm Saturday November 15, 2008, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with the Rev. Kenneth Toth to officiate.
