Obituary of Sophie Aini Tormala Boston Location Sophie A. Tormala, 80, a former resident of Boston Location passed away Wednesday morning January 24, 2007, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for over the past 2 years. She was born on July 30, 1926, in Boston Location a daughter of the late Anton and Aina (Jankkala) Pelto. As a child Sophie attended the Cloverland and Calumet Schools. Mrs. Tormala had worked for St. Joseph's Hospital in Hancock. She then moved to Detroit where she had worked for the U.S. Government. In 1978 she returned to Boston Location where she had resided until becoming a resident patient in the Cypress Manor Nursing Home. On May 28, 1949, she was united in marriage to Alden Tormala and he preceded her in death in October 5, 1987. Also preceding her in death where her parents and 7 brothers and sisters: Ida Comina, Nelma Nelson, Hilja Murto, Alma Raasio, Raymond Pelto, Arthur Pelto, and William Pelto. Surviving are: 2 Sisters: Lillian Heikkinen a resident patient at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home Ruth (Clyde) Nikkinen of Toledo, OH 1 Brother: Wesley (Arlene) Pelto of Dollar Bay Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins A private graveside service will be scheduled later on this spring in the Lake View Cemetery of Calumet.
