Stanleyetta "Peg" Longenecker (Bernhisel)

Obituary of Stanleyetta Longenecker Hancock Stanleyetta Peg Longenecker, 93, a resident of Hancock passed away Monday August 12, 2019, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock. Peg was born on January 7, 1926, in Andersonburg, PA, a daughter of the late Harry and Florence (Peck) Bernhisel. She was raised in Blain, PA, where she was a graduate of the Blain High School. Peg had worked in the local shoe factories following high school. On September 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Marlin Longenecker. Couple resided in Elizabethtown, PA. On November 4, 1975, Marlin preceded her in death. Mrs. Longenecker had worked for AMP Inc. retiring after 34 years on February 1, 1988. Following complications from a stroke Peg moved to the Copper Country in December of 1994, to reside with her son and for the past 8 years has been a resident patient at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock. Mrs. Longenecker was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock and Christ Lutheran Church in Elizabethtown, PA. Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, her brothers William and Roy and her sister Miriam Flowers. Surviving are: Her son: Edward (Bonnie) Longenecker of Hancock Her grandchildren: Amy (Mike) Stone of Allegan, MI John (Allison) Longenecker of South Range, MI Katie (Jeremy) Mattila of Houghton Her great grandchildren: Madison, Brody, Lana & Landon Several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service for Peg will be held 11:00 am Thursday August 22, 2019, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock with Rev. Peter Vorhes to officiate. Burial will be Thursday August 29, 2019, at 11:00 am in the Mt. Tunnel Cemetery in Elizabethtown, PA. Friends may call on Thursday August 22, 2019 from 10:00 am until time of services at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials be given to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock, MI, or Christ Lutheran Church in Elizabethtown, PA, in memorial of Stanleyetta Peg Longenecker.
