Steven Kneebone, 65, a resident of Painesdale, unexpectedly passed away Friday September 25, 2026, at the UP Health System - Portage Hospital following a short illness.

He was born on April 1, 1961, in Hancock, MI, a son of the late James and Jeannette (Silvola) Kneebone. Steve was raised in Atlantic Mine and was a graduate of the Jeffers High School with the class of 1979, where he enjoyed playing hockey.

On August 31, 1996, he was united in marriage to the former Lauri Sue Savola. The couple resided in Painesdale where Steve took in Lauri's son, Casey with love and devotion, as his own.

Mr. Kneebone began a career working for Northern Hardwoods, leaving after 30 years as the Division Plant Supervisor. He then owned and operated Wood Mount Ink until his retirement.

Steve enjoyed playing hockey for many years and was active with the Copper County Older Timers. He also enjoyed coaching in the CCJHA and helping with the Jeffers High School Hockey team. He also enjoyed time on the golf course, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and his brother Keith.

Surviving are: His wife Lauri Kneebone; His son: Casey (Sara) Moore; His grandchildren: Hunter, Ava, Michael ”Junie” and Waiko; His brothers: Robert Kneebone: and children-Jesse Kneebone, Jolene (Brandon) Germain; Michael (Shawna) Kneebone: and their children-Brittany Kneebone and Brandon Kneebone; His Father and mother-in-law: Tom & Patty Savola; His brother-in-law: Tommy (Dorothy) Savola; 4 great nieces and nephews; Numerous cousins and many friends

A memorial service for Steve will be held 1:00 pm Friday October 2, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church of South Range with Rev. Bucky Beach to officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery of South Range.

Visitation will be Friday October 2, 2026, from 11:00 am until time of services at Grace Lutheran Church of South Range.
