Obituary of Sylvia Collum MRS Hancock Sylvia Marie Collum, 102, a former resident of Lakeview Manor in Hancock passed away Saturday May 10, 2014, at the Houghton County Medical Care facility in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past year.She was born on March 23, 1912, on the family dairy farm in the Town of Goetz, Cadott, WI, a daughter of Czech immigrants, John and Louise (Vales) Najbrt.She married Ellsworth Polzin on august 14, 1934. They built from timber land a dairy farm in the Town of Arthur, Cadott, WI. They raised three children Marcella Marie, Eileen Martha and Edward Ellsworth Polzin. On January 16, 1960, she married Orville Collum and resided in the city of Cornell, WI, until Orville passed away in 1992. Her step-children were Marylin, Fred and Anne Collum.She moved to Lakeview Manor Senior Citizens Community in Hancock, MI, in 1994. While living there she became involved with the XYZ Club, Eagles #382 F.O.E. of Michigan, became a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, enjoyed bowling, crocheting, cooking and helping others in many ways.Preceding her in death were Ellsworth Polzin, Orville Collum, her step children Fred Collum & Marylin (Collum) Brunett; her grand-daughter Debra Krall; her brothers Frank, Alfred, and Elmer, a sister Rose Naiberg and brother-in-law Frank Naiberg, and sons-in-law, Donald Krall and Charles Hueser.Surviving are her children Marcella Hueser of Chippewa Falls, WI, Eileen (Wayne) Stordahl of Hancock, MI and Edward (Jane) Polzin of Angola, IN, a step-daughter, Anne (Al) Schroeder of Hudson, WI, seven grandchildren including Carmen (Jon) Dolson of Sheboygan, WI, Scott (Carrie) Stordahl of Littleton, CO, Karen (Pete) Fenton of Hancock. Eleven great grandchildren including Bailey & Davis Dolson, Derek & Ryan Stordahl, Jack, Allyson & Laura Fenton as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.A graveside service if inurnment will take place at a later time at the Cornell, WI Cemetery.In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials be given to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, in memory of Sylvia M.
