Obituary of Sylvia Usimaki Ripley Sylvia K.Usimaki, 89, a resident of Royce Road, Ripley, passed away Wednesday morning, October 15, 2003. The former Sylvia Kathryn Korhonen, was born on November 27, 1913, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Hemmi and Anna (Piiranen) Korhonen. Later she moved to Coburntown Location. Sylvia had attended the Pewabic school, and was a graduate of the Hancock High School with the Class of 1932. She was employed at the J.C. Penney Co. in Houghton, as a sales clerk. On August 21, 1937, she was united in marriage to Matthew Usimaki. The couple made their home in Ripley since 1940. Sylvia was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock. Preceding her in death were her parents and 1 sister, Irma Dahlberg. Surviving are: her husband, Matthew 1 Daughter: Barbara (Alton) Barrineau of Cairo, Georgia 1 Son: Bruce (Mary Ellen) Usimaki of Hemlock 4 Grandchildren 4 Great Grandchildren 1 Brother: Hugo Korhonen of Livonia 3 Nephews Funeral services will be held Monday Oct, 20, 2003, at 11 A.M. at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock, with Rev. Allen Goodrich to officiate. Burial to be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. Friends may call from 2 to 5 on Sunday at the funeral home.
