Obituary of Taimie Ottowitz HancockTaimie S. Ottowitz, 91, a former resident of Greenland and Hancock, passed away Tuesday November 17, 2009, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident patient since last December.She was born on November 11, 1918, in Greenland, a daughter of the late Henry and Lempi (Raivio) Isotalo. As a child, she attended the Mass/Greenland Schools. Taimie moved to the Detroit area as a young adult. There she met and married Harold Ottowitz on April 27, 1946. Together, the couple resided in the Hartford, Connecticut and Detroit area. After retiring, they moved to Greenland, eventually moving to the Houghton/Hancock area to make their home. Harold preceded Taimie in death on January 2, 2000.Mrs. Ottowitz had worked for G. Fox Corporation in Hartford, Connecticut and many years for the Burroughs Corporation in Detroit, and briefly at Stevenson High School in Livonia.Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, her brother; Larry Isotalo, and her sisters; Lillian Isaacson, Irene Kurttila, and Faye Holmstrom.Surviving are:Her daughter; Linda Otto of HancockHer step-daughter; Beth Heng of OregonHer grandchildren; Paula (Steve) Nelson of Thousand Oaks, California & Mark Moilanen of HancockHer great granddaughter; Samanatha Nelson of Thousand Oaks, CaliforniaHer brother; Eli Isotalo of GreenlandNumerous nieces, nephews, cousins, & step grandchildrenA memorial service for Taimie will be held 11 am Saturday November 21, 2009, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock with Rev.
