Obituary of Thomas Allen Dairo Columbiana, AL Thomas Dairo, 44, a former resident of Calumet, passed away Sunday evening October 7, 2007 in Newton, Mississippi, from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born on December 4, 1962, in Laurium, a son of the late Thomas Dairo and Donna (Hoyer) Grandchamp. As a child, he attended the Calumet Public Schools. Tom had also resided in Arizona, West Virginia and for the past 20 years made his home in Alabama. Mr. Dairo was a veteran having served with the United States Army. On April 7, 1990 he was united in marriage to the former Tracy Hardin and they parted as friends. Tom has been working as a builder for different construction companies in Alabama. He was an avid University of Michigan fan and a fan of hockey. Preceding him in death where his mother and step father: Donna and George Grandchamp, his father Thomas Dairo, an infant brother Michael, and a brother Mark. Surviving are: The love of his life and their daughter: Tracy and Payton Dairo of Birmingham, AL His sisters: Julie Lowery of Marquette Susan Laukka of California Sheri Wall of Uhta Michele (Dean) Velmer of L'Anse Tonya (Ronald) Duquette of Marquette Georgina (Kevin) Fortin of Marquette Crystal (Derrick) Verran of Chassell His step-mother: Gloria Dairo of Calumet His step-brothers & step-sisters: Richard (Lynn) Simons of Copper City Denise Simons of Calumet David Simons of Laurium Tanya Simons of Grand Junction, MI Duane ( Paula) Simons of Calumet Ronald Grandchamp of Calumet Suzanne (Leon) VanCamp of Calumet Marlene (Bill) Petaja of Kearsarge Cindy (Kevin) Bezotte of Calumet Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom all of he loved and cared for. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday October 15, 2007, at St. Ignatius Loyola church of Houghton with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Calumet. Friends may call on Monday October 15, 2007 from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.
