Obituary of Verna Hauswirth MRS Hancock Verna Bernice Hauswirth, 84, a resident of Jasberg Street, Hancock, passed away Thursday evening, August 19, 2004, at the Norlite Nursing Center in Marquette, where she had been a resident patient since May of 2004. Verna was born on December 19, 1919 in Hancock, a daughter of the late Jacob and Anna Liisa (Juntunen) Korpinen. She was a life-long resident of Hancock and a 1937 graduate of the Hancock High School. Following high school, Verna worked in the Detroit area for a brief time. She later worked for the former Detroit & Northern Savings and Loan in Hancock. On September 15, 1945, she was united in marriage to Harold Roy Hauswirth, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2001. Verna enjoyed spending time with her family. Her gradchildren are grown and one has children of her own, but all three will remember forever summer vacations spent with their Grampa and Grama at their home. Each grandchild has their own unique memories of time spent together while they were both able, never was a birthday party missed for their grandchildren. Verna was talented at playing the organ, crocheting, and baking her yummy tarts. The aroma of coffee, her favorite beverage, will always evoke wonderful memories, in her family of Verna and her beloved Harold. She enjoyed taking care of her many animals through out the years and there was never a time without a cherished family dog.. Verna was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock, and a life member of the D.A.V. Auxilliary. Also preceding her in death were: her parents; 3 sisters; Jennie, Esther Waterbury, & Elvera Considine; and 3 brothers; Wesley in WWII; Bill, & Eino. : Surviving are: 1 Son; Wesley (Barbara) of Marquette 3 Grandchildren: Lisa (Don) Bianchi of Marquette Dale J. Hauswirth of Marquette Lori L. Hauswirth of Houghton 2 Great Grandchildren: Jesse & Alex Bianchi both of Marquette 3 Sisters: Edith Quincy of Dearborn Heights Katherine (Art) Warren of Livonia Ellen Waatti of Casper, Wyoming A Sister-in-law: Margaret Korpinen of Hancock numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins Her very Special dog: Sammy At Verna's request there will be no visitation or funeral. Memorial graveside sevices will be held Friday, August 27, 2004, 11 A.M. at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, with Rev. Susan Odegard of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church to officiate. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggest memorials may be given to the Copper Country Humaine Society, P.O. Box 354, Hancock, MI 49930 The Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock has been selected to serve the family.
