Obituary of Victor Allen Ollikainen Island Lake, IL Victor A. Ollikainen, 63, a resident of Island Lake, IL, and formerly of Dodgeville & Bessmer, Michigan, passed away Saturday evening October 22, 2005, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 29, 1941, in Hancock a son of Lillian (Maki) Ollikainen and the late Victor J. Ollikainen. Vic had resided in Dodgeville until 1948 when the family had moved to Bessmer, MI and he graduated from A.D. Johnston High School with the class of 1959. After High School he enlisted in the United States Army Paratroopers and served one tour. For the last 42 years Mr. Ollikainen has resided in the Chicago, IL area where he had worked at four different corporations spending the last 20 years as director of purchasing at Elgin Industries where he retired in October of 2003. On January 16, 1981 he was united in marriage to the former Susan V. Reinhardt. Hockey was a great joy in Vic's life. He had played in the United States Hockey League with the Fox Valley Astros and also with the Chicago Cardinals. Surviving are: His wife Susan His Son: Victor Ollikainen Jr. His Daughter: Erika (Clint) Wallin His grand daughter Mary Kennedy Wallin His mother Lillian Ollikainen Funeral services for Vic will be held this Thursday October 27, 2005, at 1 P.M. in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. Jimalee Jones to officiate. Burial will be in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 A.M. until time of services.
