Obituary of Wayne Nelson Hancock Wayne R. Nelson, 59, a resident of Cedar Street, Hancock, passed away early Monday morning, April 25, 2005, at his home following an apparent heart attack. He was born on February 6, 1946, in Highland Park, a son of Robert Nelson and the late Dorothy (Weycker) Nelson. Wayne resided in the Detroit area until 1990 at which time he moved to Hancock to make his home. He worked for Portec Paragon Steel as an Overhead Crane Operator. On August 26, 1967, he was united in marriage to the former Karen Hedberg in Detroit. He was preceded in death by his mother and 2 sisters; Dorothy Wallace and Judy Weiss. Surviving are: his wife, Karen 1 Son: Erik (Kristie) Nelson of Garden City 1 Daughter: Amy Nelson of Dollar Bay 2 Grandsons: Kyle Nelson Kevin Nelson His Father: Robert Nelson of Haslett, MI 2 Brothers: Thomas (Susan) Nelson of Haslett, MI Keith Nelson of West Virginia Several nieces, nephews, & cousins Memorial services will be held 7 P.M. Thursday April 28, 2005 at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock, with Rev. Susan Odegard to officiate. Interment to be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 P.M. until time of services.
