Wayne Peterson, 54, a resident of Dollar Bay, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 18, 2001, at Marquette General Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past 3 weeks.
He was born on March 8, 1947, in Hancock, a son of Lillian (Thomas) Peterson and the late Yalmer Peterson. As a youth he lived in Lower Pewabic Location, later living in the Flint area, and then returned to the Copper Country in 1980 to make his home in Dollar Bay.
Wayne was a teamster & truck driver, and had attended Beecher High School.
On April 16, 1966, he was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Cicalo.
Wayne was an avid hunter and fisherman.

1 son: Scott (Jennifer) Peterson of Webster, TX
2 Daughters: Mrs. Michelle (Tracy) Hokenson of Dollar Bay
Mrs. Lucia (Robert) Dunstan Jr. of Green Bay, WI
7 grandchildren
His mother: Mrs. Lillian Peterson of Mt. Morris, MI
1 sister: Mrs. Judi (Alvin) Ashbaker of Davison, MI
numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 21, 2001, at 1 pm in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. Jimalee Jones to officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Calumet.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
