Obituary of Wesley Elwood Huhta Chassell Wesley E. Huhta, 79 a resident of Chassell, passed away Wednesday afternoon February 10, 2016, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where he had been a resident patient for the past two years. He was born on October 3, 1936, in Keweenaw Bay. A son of the late Kuno and Martha (Hendrickson) Huhta. Wes was raised in Chassell and was a graduate of the Chassell High School with the class of 1954. Mr. Huhta was a veteran having served with the United States Army. On December 23, 1960, he was united in marriage to the former Lora Hill. This past December the couple was able to celebrate 55 years together. Wesley was employed at the Box Plant in Chassell for a short time. He then began a 42 year career with the railroad where he was an assistant foreman, and bridge builder/carpenter. Locally, Wes was a member of V.F.W. Post #6507 of Chassell and a past member of the Chassell Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years. He was a hard worker his entire life but also enjoyed working on a variety of projects. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, camping and fishing. Preceding him in death were his parents, his brothers Ted and Reuben. Surviving are: His wife: Lora Lala Huhta of Chassell His sons: David (Tammy) Huhta of Temecula, CA Bruce (Karen) Huhta of Chassell His grandchildren: Matthew, Lindsey and Bailey His brother: Clifford (Shirley) Huhta of Twin Lakes His sister: Bertha Cuff of Marquette. Numerous nieces, nephews,cousins and a Stihl Chainsaw. A memorial service for Wesley will be held 2 pm Saturday February 20, 2016, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell with Rev. DJ Raisner to officiate. Friends may call on Saturday February 20, 2016 from 12 noon until time of services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell.
