Obituary of Willard Alcenius Hubbell Willard H. Alcenius, 90, a former resident of Birch Street, Hubbell, passed away late Monday, May 16, 2005, at Our Lady of Mercy Convalescent Home in Hubbell where he was a resident patient for the past 2 years. Willard was born in Dollar Bay on March 20, 1915, a son of the late Henry and Amanda (Keranen) Alcenius, and spent his early years on the family farm. In 1961, he moved to the Chicago area, later living in the State of Ohio. Following his retirement, he returned to the Copper Country to make his home in Hubbell. Mr. Alcenius was employed by Horner Flooring Co. of Dollar Bay for 6 years. In 1957, he worked for the Baltimore & Ohio Chicago Terminal Railroad Co. as a fireman. He retired as an engineer in 1977. He was united in marriage to the former Ellen Makkonen, and she preceded him in death on December 24, 1997. Preceding him in death were: his parents, 6 sisters: Hilda, Allie, Elsie, Lempi, Lenore, His wife, Ellen. Surviving are 2 Step Daughters: Mrs. Ilona (Russ) Messner of Hubbell Mrs. Charlotte (George) Leinonen Jr. of Clarkston Grandsons: Craig, Scott, Chris, and Kyle Messner, Cory Leinonen & Grand daughter: Jodi (Leinonen) Mason. 14 Great Grandchildren A Private Funeral for Willard will be held on Monday May 23, 2005 at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock, with Rev.
