William Chegwidden

Obituary of William Chegwidden Hancock William E. Chegwidden, 95, a former resident of Pine St., Hancock, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility where he had been a resident patient for over the past 6 years. He was born on November 16, 1908, in Hancock, MI a son of the late Norman and Lillie (Chapman) Chegwidden. He was a graduate of the Hancock High School with the Class of 1927. In 1934, he was united in marriage to the former Edna Saatio and she preceded him in death on February 18, 1991. After working several jobs locally, they moved to the Detroit area in 1942, where he worked for the Excello Corp. for 29 years. They returned to Hancock in 1971 where he has resided since. Mr. Chegwidden was a member of the former Hancock Elk's Lodge and a member of the Hancock Booster Club. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, and 1 son, Robert Chegwidden. Surviving are: 2 Grandsons: Mark (Donna) Chegwidden of Hurontown Michael Chegwidden of Kincheloe, MI 2 Great Grandsons: Christopher of Hurontown Derek of Atlantic Mine numerous cousins Services for Mr. Chegwidden will be 4 P.M. on Friday August 20, 2004, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock with Rev. Rodney Johnson to officaite. Burial to be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 3 P.M. until time of services.
