Zaira Hawke

Obituary of Zaira Hawke Caspian Zaira M. (Harold) Hawke, 81, a resident of Baker Rd., Caspian, passed away Sunday morning June 27, 2004, at the Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center of Calumet where she had been a patient for over the past 2 weeks, following a battle with cancer. Mrs. Hawke was born on June 23, 1923, in Verona, Italy, a daughter of the late Guiseppi and Emma (Imcastro) Magaraggia, and at the age of 10 she moved to Caspian where she has resided since. In 1941 she was united in marriage to Harold Hawke and together they have owned and operated Hawke's Shoe Repair for 38 years. Zaira was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and the Royal Neighbors of America. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 Sister Margaret. Surviving are: Her husband Harold of Caspian 1 Daughter: Barbara (Don) Fisher of Hancock 1 Son: Melvin Hawke of Green Bay 3 Grandchildren: Debbie (Kevin) Hutek of Holland, MI Dr. Ronald (Beth) Fisher of Chassell Gregg (Sharon) Fisher of Chassell 5 Great Grandchildren 1 Brother: Larry (Mercedes) Magaraggia of L'Anse 5 Sisters: Flora (John) Brunelle of South Holland, IL Vera Frimuth of West Allis, WI Virgina (Oliver) Rosseau of Hancock, MI Alice LaBeau of Ypsilanti, MI Mary (Harry) Pearson of Iron Mountain A Mass of Christain burial for Zaira will be held at 11 A.M. (C.S.T.)on Wednesday June 30, 2004, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian. Burial to be in the Stambaugh Cemetery of Iron River. Friends may call at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River on Tuesday June 29, 2004, from 6- 8 P.M. (C.S.T.) where a prayer service will be held at 7 P.M. (C.S.T.)
